Rachel Rochester received her PhD in English from the University of Oregon in June, 2018. She specializes in the literature of South Asia, postcolonial theory, the environmental humanities, and how new media and emerging technologies impact how we interact with these literatures. She is interested in interdisciplinarity, specifically examining how literary rhetorical strategies that have impacted political movements might inspire real action in response to climate change and environmental degradation. Rochester has published on the role of podcasting technology in climate change research and the rhetoric of proposed interplanetary colonization efforts.
